Awful Realities of Hell

Like Sgt Joe Friday on the old Dragnet series, we are going to look at “just the facts, Ma’am” and in this pamphlet; we will examine the facts of the awful realities of hell.

• The awful reality that Hell is real

Luke 16:22-23 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

We see here hell is a real place and one of two destinations after one dies: Paradise, now in Heaven, or Hell.

• The awful reality of the torments of Hell

Luke 16:24-25 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Mark 9:43-44 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Ps 88:11-14 Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction? 12 Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 13 But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee. 14 LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

Yes Hell is a place of torment. Tormented by flames, the knowledge of your life, rejection of Jesus, the wrongs you have done, an awful place where the worm does not die and perhaps worse of all, the knowledge of the absence of the presence of God. Hell is a place of lonely torment, you will not be “partying with your friends.”

• The awful reality that Hell is not permanent

Rev 20:12-15 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

That is right, hell is not permanent, there will be a day you will stand before Jesus and cast into the lake of fire with Hell and death, the second death, the everlasting death.

• The wonderful reality is you do not have to go there! You can accept God’s gift of salvation. He loves you John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Take the time now to believe:

Rom 10:9-10, 13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Pray a prayer of repentance: Jesus, I know I am a sinner, forgive me my sins, come into my heart and save me. Amen If you have prayed this little prayer and meant it, please e-mail me so I can rejoice with you.

  1. Not that I’m impressed a lot, but this is a lot more than I expected for when I stumpled upon a link on Digg telling that the info is quite decent. Thanks.
